Saw one if these and I thought to myself... Why?
Don't get me wrong, it was sexy as hell. BUT why pass up the opportunity to have Gullwing doors?!
Also, this is in New England where convertibles are only fun for like three months out of the year
What do you think Oppo, would you rather drive topless or have gullwings?

Because the gullwings in actual use are pretty damn stupid and the SLS is not some tight track car so it only benefits from having a million miles of headroom to better enjoy the sounds coming out of that V8.

Gullwing doors suck to live with, and those 3 months in New England are what convertibles were made for.

Because noise, I guess; I've not come across one running in the wild yet, but the general consensus is they sound amazing. I'm with you, though...gullwings all the way.

I saw a convertible a few weeks ago, and I have to say it looks really nice, but I'd still have the gullwings. I think the doors are a love-it or hate-it type thing, but I really like them.

Look up Jeremy Clarksons review of the convertible. He said he likes the convertible more because it doesnt have stupid doors. I think thats the mindset of many people.
Personally? I love the gullwing doors!

While Gullwing Doors are stunningly beautiful, they are hilariously impractical. You can't exit the car in tight spaces or areas with limited headroom...Oh, and the Gullwing system robs just a little headroom too.
Now, if it had the Model X's Falcon Doors, then that's a different story...
